Statement on Health Care

June 19, 2003

As a doctor, I've seen the devastating impact of our nation's health care crisis first hand. As Governor of Vermont, I addressed that crisis with sweeping health care reforms, including a plan to insure virtually every child in our state. Now, I'm running for President to bring universal health care coverage to every American. For me, this isn't a political issue, it's a moral imperative.

When I am President, no longer will workers be forced to strike for basic health care coverage; no longer will families be forced to choose between earning a paycheck and caring for a sick child. We're going to take back America and make universal health care a reality.
